Rib & Vertebrae Talismans

These intentionally made talismans contain Bones from an individual Deer or Elk.

Every piece is different : every cord, every stitch, every bone is unique to that piece.

We let the design present itself as we work with the bones.

I use cedar and pine to smoke cleanse the bones before and after they become  Talismans. - Amanda

The bones are found along old logging roads, random trails, roadside turn outs and hunting dump sites. Most are damaged, discolored and have been gnawed on.

All bones are mindfully collected from these locations, doing our best to keep each individual's bones separate - whenever possible.

Our motivation for creating these talisman is to honor the dead, a memento mori of sorts. Celebrating their lives by transforming their bones into art.

We also try to clean up any garbage we find in the areas where we gather the bones.  Our way of thanking the wild things for such a great gift.

When the season allows i gather wool from my goats as they rub on the fence and trees. I leave that for the birds to use as nesting material at the sites where I've found bones repeatedly.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read that!
